Downdetector, a service that records global outages, has seen a significant increase in the number of people reporting WhatsApp’s outage.
Downdetector is claiming a significant increase, with over 6000 reports available. Users report that their messages are not being delivered. Even when the messages are delivered, the app does not display the delivery status.
Users are even complaining about problems with WhatsApp’s calling feature. The app does not progress from the ‘calling’ to the ringing phase. Last October, WhatsApp experienced a similar outage. Users of WhatsApp are now taking to Twitter to complain the outage. Given the breadth of the outage, this could be one of the worst incidents for the instant messaging program.
