WhatsApp group chats are getting bigger, you can soon add 1024 users

The WhatsApp group Chats are unquestionably one of the most useful (and underestimated) features on the messaging app owned by Meta, despite the update’s seeming lack of significance.

  • WhatsApp groups are a fantastic tool for keeping in touch with friends and family.
  • A group chat on WhatsApp can currently have up to 512 participants.
  • Users can add up to 200,000 people to its competitor Telegram.

All users of WhatsApp will soon be able to create group chats with up to 1024 participants. The feature is currently accessible on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, but the stable release is probably not too far off.

The WhatsApp group is unquestionably one of the most crucial (and underestimated) features on the messaging app owned by Meta, despite the update’s seeming lack of significance. WhatsApp groups are quite helpful in connecting with friends, family, coworkers, and even neighbors in the same colony in nations like India.

The well-known WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo was the first to notice the new WhatsApp group function. A group chat on WhatsApp can currently have up to 512 participants. WhatsApp will also be hoping to gain an advantage over rival Telegram, which allows users to create a group chat with up to 200,000 participants, once the feature begins to roll out.

Of course, WhatsApp has fewer groups than Telegram, although the latter does provide some substitutes. Users can, for instance, broadcast messages to large groups of individuals. Obviously, it is less flexible than group chat, but it could be useful for distributing one-time messages.

WhatsApp is developing additional cool features to make users’ lives easier in the meanwhile. The platform, for instance, is testing a function that would allow users to search for a message by the date. The tool was noticed by the same journal. “This functionality will be quite handy, particularly when you want to read what messages were exchanged on a specific day or discover the first message shared with a particular contact,” it was stated.

However, the site is also testing a method to stop users from screenshotting discussions. Only normal chats and messages sent using the View Once option will be affected, though. There is still work being done on the functionality, therefore more details are awaited.
