Instagram and Facebook down? You’re not alone
Instagram and Facebook down- Thursday early. The end of the work week is almost here, the weekend is quickly approaching, and it also appears that you are unable to access Facebook or Instagram. On Thursday, October 27, both Instagram and Facebook seemed to be unavailable at the time of writing.
According to Down Detector, there were over 2,000 complaints of the outage during the peak time of 9:40 a.m. 65% of Facebook users report issues with the website, 29% report issues with the app, and 6% report problems with their feed or timeline.
What about the outage on Instagram? Most customers are complaining about issues with the app, coupled with additional issues with the website and login into accounts. My iPhone’s Instagram app consistently reports that there is no internet connection even though I can check that neither Stories nor the main Feed are loading. Your results may vary, but according to our U.K.-based writer Andy Boxall, Stories are “kind of” working for him.
On my PC, I can occasionally get the Facebook website to load, but when it does, it takes a lot longer than normal.

A quick scan of Twitter demonstrates the outage’s broad reach.
We’ll simply have to wait and watch when things get back to normal because it’s unknown what’s causing this most recent outage or how long it will stay. Hopefully soon, everything returns to normal! On the other hand, perhaps forcing yourself to take a vacation from Facebook and Instagram isn’t the worst way to start your Thursday.
Update: It looks that issues at Instagram and Facebook have generally been resolved and everything are back to normal as of 10:20 a.m. EST.
