Google Play Games is now available in open beta in the United States, allowing anyone to try out a variety of Android games on PC. Google released an early beta version of the program for Windows PCs previously this year, but it was only available in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan. With today’s introduction, the beta service is now available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.
1945 Air Force, Blade Idle, Cookie Run: Kingdom, and Evony: The King’s Return are among the games available. The program will even sync your progress between PCs and mobile devices, allowing you to pick up where you left off on other platforms. Although Google continues to add games to the Play Gaming catalog, there are currently only 85 games available globally on the service.
“We’re excited to provide our platform to new markets so that gamers can continue to enjoy their favorite games on Google Play,” adds Arjun Dayal, director of Google Play Games. “As we get closer to a full release, we’ll keep adding new features and evaluating development and player input.”
Google Play Games is distinct from Microsoft’s efforts to bring Android apps to Windows 11. Instead, Microsoft collaborated with Amazon and now includes games and apps from Amazon’s Appstore in its current operating system. Although Microsoft developed an underlying Android Software Layer into Windows 11, Google has established its own separate software to deliver Google Play games to PC on Android Devices.
