Netflix has free games as well, and here’s how you can get started

Netflix has free games as well, and here’s how you can get started. When it comes to the shift away from DVDs to online streaming of TV shows and movies on a variety of devices, including laptops, tablets, TVs, and smartphones, Netflix has been instrumental.

However, in November of last year, the streaming service broadened its scope with the introduction of Netflix Games in response to the gaming explosion, particularly on the mobile end.

Currently, the service only offers fairly straightforward arcade games, but more complex titles like Assassin’s Creed are on the way. Here is all the information you require about Netflix Games and how to get started using it.

Supported platforms and sign-up procedures

The iOS version of Netflix Games was released a week after the Android version on November 2nd. You must have an Android phone or tablet running Android 8.0 or higher in order to use the titles the service offers. Netflix Games can be played on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS or iPadOS 15 or later.

You don’t need to do anything to get started if you meet those requirements. No extra charges or in-app purchases are required; all you need is a current Netflix membership. Also without advertisements is Netflix. If you don’t already have a membership, just download the app, create an account, and follow the on-screen directions.

No timeline has been provided for when the service will stop being exclusive to mobile devices and expand to TVs and other gear, but Netflix may be working on it. Later, more on that.

The best games available on Netflix at the moment

The Game: Stranger Things 3

With its dated, pixelated graphics, this adorable little top-down game will make you think of handheld console games from the past. It is marketed as a “beat ’em up” game and is based on the third season of the beloved Netflix series Stranger Things.

Immortality

Finding out what happened to Marissa Marcel, a young actress who seemed to vanish into thin air, is your goal in Immortality, which is more of an interactive movie than a game. You spend hours watching hours of uncut video from three of the actress’s unreleased films, looking for hints and piecing them together.

Nailed It! Baking Bash

Nailed It! Baking Bash, a Netflix-only exclusive, is a multiplayer baking game with gorgeous 3D visuals. Rapid-fire mini-games are available for both solo play and multiplayer competition to “re-create edible marvels.”

Country Friends

Gameloft created the farming simulation game Country Friends, in which you can construct the farm of your dreams. At the communal farm, you can cultivate delectable fruits, make unique items, trade rewards, and take care of one other’s farms.

Into the Dead 2: Unleashed

In Into the Dead 2: Unleashed, your only objective is to survive in a post-zombie world. With an arsenal of potent weaponry at your disposal, you must navigate dangerous terrain while defending yourself from an increasing number of zombie attackers.

What lies ahead

Even though the Netflix Games library might use some improvement, the streaming service wants to expand its efforts to PCs and TVs with the potential launch of a cloud gaming service. Although there isn’t much information available at the moment, the firm may be able to pick up where Google’s unsuccessful Stadia service left off.

Netflix Games now has over 40 games available on mobile. However, as part of its earnings announcement, it said it had 55 more games in development, with 14 of them being created by Netflix’s own studios.
