Since the software was producing accurate predictions, according to Dr. Chen, it must have identified a legitimate set of 4 variables, but “we don’t yet grasp the mathematical language it is speaking.”

Researchers started putting films of systems whose explicit variable answers they don’t know into the computer software. A “air dancer” was seen in the first video going up and down in front of a used car yard. From that video, the AI software returned eight variables. After being shown a video of a lava lamp, the computer generated the same amount of variations. 24 variables were then returned by the algorithm after it examined a loop of video showing fireplace flames.

According to the study, there were the same numbers of variables each time the AI software was restarted. The precise factors, however, were different. This demonstrates that there are other methods to explain the cosmos.

If we ever encountered an intelligent extraterrestrial culture, Lipson muses, “I often wondered if they would have found the same physics rules as we have, or may they characterize the cosmos in a different way.” “Perhaps some things look enigmatically difficult because we are utilizing the wrong set of variables to analyze them,”

Scientists still don’t have all the answers

According to Lipson, scientists may be misinterpreting or failing to grasp numerous occurrences because they may not have a good collection of variables to explain the phenomenon.
