Instagram gets a Google Maps style map

Instagram gets a Google Maps style map- Instagram is always changing. And, while the social network’s previous changes were mostly targeted at making it a video platform equivalent to TikTok, the latest innovation could dominate Google Maps.

Mark Zuckerberg just revealed a huge change to Instagram’s map. Previously, the Instagram map could only be used to discover publications; today, it can also be used to locate places.

Today we are unveiling a new map available on IG,” stated Meta’s boss. “You may now explore and filter popular local companies around you by category.

New map allows the user to search for locations, utilize filters, and move about on it.

In essence, rather of searching for a restaurant or activity on Google Maps, users may now utilize Instagram’s map to identify popular spots nearby.

Social networks like Instagram become competitors of Google

Due to the fact that TikTok, Instagram, and other social networks compete with Google’s YouTube platform, the two already exist as competitors. These social networks, however, are also becoming more and more competitive with Google Search and Google Maps, the Mountain View company’s core products.

Prabhakar Raghavan recently brought this up at a conference. In essence, rather of using Google Search or Google Maps to find stuff, young people are increasingly turning to social networks like TikTok or Instagram.
