OnePlus Buds Z2 Review

OnePlus Buds Z2 is the brand’s successor to OnePlus Buds Z. The layout, as well as the overall appearance of the buds, are largely the same as the Buds Z, however, there are several improvements throughout the product, such as larger drivers & longer battery life. In the best situation, these new Buds have a battery life of up to 38 hrs.

OnePlus Buds Z2 has an in-ear fit as well as uses the same 11mm, drivers, as the OnePlus Buds Pro. Buds Z2 now have ANC as well as pass-through sound, which is usually only found on TWS buds that cost more.

Buds Z2’s bodies are totally constructed of glossy plastic and have an IP55 waterproofness rating (in addition to nano-coating), whereas the charging case has an IPX4 rating. As spiritual predecessors to the OnePlus Bullets earphones, they are available in Obsidian Black or Pearl White, with the CD design.

OnePlus Buds Z2 are said to have excellent sound quality, as well as triple microphones should ensure clear communications.

OnePlus Buds Z2 has a layout that is similar to the OnePlus Bullets. It has the same bulky design that, for some reason, works for certain people’s ears, as well as the CD pattern found on older-gen Bullets as well as previous-generation Buds Z.

OnePlus was able to fit more electronics into these buds while also shortening the stems by 15%. The container is 73.15 x 36.8 x 29.1mm and each Z2 bud dimensions 33x 22.4 x 21.8mm. Each bud is 4.5g in weight, with the case adding another 40.5g. The new charging case is only a few millimeters taller and wider than its predecessor, but it’s still quite small and portable. The charging case has a lovely feel to it and is formed like a huge pill with a flat bottom.

Features

Hey, Melody application is available for both Android & iOS on OnePlus Buds Z2. If you have a OnePlus device, the integration is already incorporated into the firmware. There are a few functions that are only available when the Buds Z2 is paired with a OnePlus device.

If you don’t have a OnePlus phone, you can use the Hey Melody application to upgrade the firmware, alter the touch controls, test the fit of your earbuds, and change the noise cancellation/sound transparency settings. If you require an equalization or the ability to alter the bass levels, you must use a OnePlus phone.

Performance Of Sound

The sound quality of the earbuds is satisfactory. The sound quality is generally good, with strong bass and booming mid-ranges. The bass is loud and clear, which will appeal to the typical listener.

Treble, on the other hand, sounds blown out and unappealing. The Buds are set to boost the EQ’s higher range, which would otherwise be lost owing to compression, creating the impression that the sound is clear. This is most noticeable in vocalists’ “esses” as well as high-pitched instruments such as violins as well as cymbals. The Buds appear to be tuned towards loudness instead of well sound.

Mode Of Transparency

When you take out one earbud to chat to someone or hear what’s going on around you, the other earbud in your other ear automatically switches to transparency mode.

The transparency mode is quite useful. It does exactly what it says on the tin: it directs external sound into the ears. Whenever there’s wind, it does something interesting: it briefly pauses streaming sound through the mics until the wind ceases. Transparency mode is then restored.

Battery

Having ANC switched off, the OnePlus Buds Z2 are run for 38 Hrs of total listening duration. The earbuds may last up to 7 hrs on a single charge, or up to 5 hrs with ANC turned on. The charging case has a 520 mAh battery, whereas each bud has a 40mAh battery.
