E-Amrit Website: Get all Electric Bike Information

At the ongoing COP26 Summit in Glasgow, UK, the Indian government launched the ‘E-Amrit’, an electric vehicle awareness web portal. As part of the India-UK Joint Roadmap 2030, the E-Amrit web portal was developed in collaboration between NITI Aayog and the UK government.

The web portal contains all electric vehicle-related information, such as purchasing an electric vehicle, starting an Electric vehicle business, calculating electric vehicle benefits, locating charging stations, and so on.

India has undertaken a number of initiatives to expedite the transition to an electric future, including decarbonization of transportation and the implementation of electric mobility. The government has also introduced FAME and PLI to encourage the use of electric vehicles. It provides incentives and implement numerous initiatives, such as road tax and registration exemptions for electric vehicles.

What is e-AMRIT?

E-Amrit Website: Get all Electric Bike Information

E-AMRIT (Accelerated e-Mobility Revolution for India’s Transportation) is a web portal, which is dedicated to creating awareness about electric mobility in India. The portal intends to serve as a “one-stop site” for all information pertaining to the adoption of electric vehicles in India. E-Amrit is the result of a collaboration between NITI Aayog and the United Kingdom Government.

E-Amrit Portal Significance

E-Amrit aims to supplement government initiatives aimed at increasing consumer awareness of electric vehicles and the benefits of switching to electric vehicles. It intends to expand its features and incorporate newfangled tools, such as choose my electric vehicle, home and public charging calculators, and many more to assist people in selecting electric vehicles or to acquire new information about them. It also has charging stations, locators, and other features.

Web portals also help to dispel the myth of Adoption of electric vehicles. This essentially supplements all of the government’s measures to raise Electric vehicle awareness and inspire consumers about the benefits of switching to electric vehicles.

What is the reason behind the launch of E-Amrit?

Petrol and diesel prices have reached unsustainable levels, still running uphill. Moreover, global air pollution is at an all-time high. To get out of this, nations around the world are looking to traditional energy sources. One aspect of this is to encourage the use of electric vehicles. Electric vehicle promotion policies are also gaining traction in our country.

As part of this, the government has implemented a subsidy program known as FAME to encourage the use of electric vehicles in the country. The government has now launched the E-Amrit web portal, where one can find all kinds of information about electric vehicles.

Tools E-Amrit Web Portal Offer:

  • Choose electric vehicle as per the need
  • Home electric vehicle charging calculator
  • Public electric vehicle charging calculator
  • Electric vehicle journey cost calculator

Features of the E-Amrit portal

By providing access to information about electric vehicles, the e-AMRIT portal aims to assist electric bike users or electric bike adopters to:

Switching to electric bike feasibility research:

Switch to electric bikes by providing insights into electric vehicle technologies, types of electric bikes, insurance options, and financing options.

Knowledge repository on electric bikes:

Establish the electric bike or associated enterprise by providing insights on key initiatives of the federal and state governments.

Tools for calculating electric bike experience:

Assess the benefits of electric bikes with specially designed tools that calculate users’ savings with electric bikes versus petrol bikes.

Knowledge about electric bike businesses:

Find out everything people need to know about the Indian electric vehicle market and industry, as well as the key developments propelling the e-mobility ecosystem forward.

Rising Demand of E-Bikes in India

India, like several other emerging economies, has an advantage in that the market is dominated by two-wheelers. Scooters and motorcycles account for two – thirds of all vehicles, while cars and SUVs account for only 13%. Two-wheelers lower the bar for electric vehicle’s main challenge: batteries.

They do not need to travel as fast or as far, and their power packs are approximately eight times smaller than those used in electric vehicles. This lowers the cost of the battery, which typically accounts for about half of the vehicle’s cost. That will go a long way in a price-sensitive market where mobility is an aspiration.

Electric vehicles have become more affordable as a result of programs such as FAME. The government has recently launched a number of initiatives to accelerate the transition to an electric future, including decarbonizing hazardous gases emitted by vehicles and adopting electric mobility. Electric vehicle adoption has been facilitated by programs such as Fame and PLI.

Several Indian states have implemented their own electric vehicle policies, including subsidies for the purchase of electric two-, three-, and four-wheelers. Electric vehicles are also exempt from paying registration fees and road tax in some states.

The city-state has been a trailblazer in successfully implementing its electric vehicle policy. The city has seen an increase in the registration of electric vehicles in recent months and has now excluded the financial advantage of subsidies from its policy.

Electrification may conjure up images of Tesla Inc., and Elon Musk’s ambitious plans for expanding into India are admirable. Drivers, on the other hand, must understand how they can contribute. A lack of public awareness has been a significant barrier to adoption globally, and campaigns to promote EV visibility have had significant success.

According to some surveys, even those who have gone electric can have misconceptions, demonstrating how widespread misinformation can be. The E-Amrit portal is a good place to start.

Types of E-Bikes

The majority of e-bikes are classified into three types:

  • The first, pedal assist, provides riders with a motor – driven boost, as if an invisible hand is pushing them forward.
  • The second, a throttle, enables the rider to travel at speeds of up to 20 mph without pedaling and is commonly used by delivery drivers and couriers.
  • The third is a faster pedal assist, which allows for speeds of up to 28 mph.

Conclusion

The E-Amrit portal aims to raise awareness in India about electric mobility. It has been designed to serve as a “one-stop site” for all information pertaining to the adoption of electric vehicles in India. The web portal will be accessible via a variety of devices, including PCs, mobile phones, tablets, and screen readers. NITI Aayog is developing new tools and features to make the E-Amrit portal more interactive and user-friendly.

If COP26 has taught the world anything, it is that one can no longer rely solely on summits, semantics, and policymakers to breathe cleaner air. Consumers should indeed take an active part. E-Amrit aims to make it possible for them to do so.
