Check Out The World’s First Sodium-Ion Solar Generators, Will Debut at CES 2022

Here we are going to discuss first Sodium- Ion solar generators. As the effects of climate change continue to worsen, firms such as Apple, Google, and others are taking steps to decrease their carbon footprint and eventually attain carbon neutrality.

As even more companies try to break into the EV market and manufacture battery-powered devices instead of non-renewable-energy-based items, the desire for lithium batteries has skyrocketed.

This has resulted in a lithium-ion battery supply scarcity on the market. Bluetti, a global leader in solar energy, has now built the world’s first sodium-ion solar generators in response to this.

First Sodium-Ion Solar Generators Features

Soak Up The Sun

Unparalleled solar input capabilities of up to 3000W.

Dual Charging

One for the power outlet, and one for the AC+PV dual charging, which can charge the NA300 from 0 to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Combine And Conquer

The capacity of the NA300 may be increased to an astounding 12,600Wh by using two B480 battery packs (4,800Wh each). People will be completely protected in the event of a power loss.

First Sodium-Ion Solar Generators Specifications

Bluetti, a manufacturer of home power stations such as generators, solar panels, and other items, has begun developing sodium-based battery technology for use in its next-generation power stations.

Instead of building lithium-based generators, it has resorted to sodium because the chemical characteristics of both metals are similar. Furthermore, sodium is over a thousand times more abundant in the Earth’s crust than lithium.

Bluetti’s sodium-based battery technology has been integrated into the new NA300 sodium-ion solar generator. In addition to the NA300, the company will introduce the B480, a compatible battery pack.

Although the NA300 will have the same design and style as Bluetti’s past products, which have been well received by customers, it has the potential to become the quickest charging solar generator in the world, as it can charge from 0% to 80% in less than half an hour.

First Sodium-Ion Solar Generators Technical Specifications

This is due to the generator’s 3,000W solar input capability, which allows it to absorb more power from the Sun in a shorter amount of time thanks to its 6,000W quick AC + PV dual-charging technology. To integrate different home appliances, there will be four 20A plugs and one 30A L14-30 output port.

Furthermore, when operating in low-temperature conditions, the sodium-ion battery pack inside the NA300 and B480 has a capacity retention rate of more than 85% and a system implementation effectiveness of more than 80%.

However, as compared to lithium-ion, sodium-ion technology has several drawbacks. The NA300, for example, has a maximum capacity of 3,000 Wh, which is much less than the company’s own lithium-ion-based EP500 Pro generator’s capacity of 5,100 Wh. Despite the fact that both generators are the same size, the sodium-ion-based NA300 has a lower capacity.

Users can, however, connect two B480 battery modules, each with a capacity of 4,800 Wh, to create a 12,600 Wh power station. When the power goes out, this can provide emergency electricity for an ordinary family for up to two weeks.

About Bluetti

Bluetti produces household power stations like generators and photovoltaic panels and has lately begun developing sodium-based generators. Instead of building lithium-based generators, it has resorted to sodium because the chemical characteristics of both metals are similar. Furthermore, sodium is over a thousand times more abundant in the Earth’s crust than lithium.

People May Ask

Will Sodium Ion Batteries Replace Lithium-Ion?

Sodium-ion batteries, on the other hand, are unlikely to replace lithium-ion batteries. CATL also presented a novel battery pack last week that combines lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, and the company claims that its production lines can transition between the two quickly.

Who Is Making Sodium-Ion Batteries?

Natron Energy Inc. is the world’s leading developer and producer of Prussian Blue Sodium-Ion battery solutions for critical power and industrial applications like data center UPS systems and powered by electricity warehouse management equipment.

Is There A Sodium Ion Battery?

Sodium-ion batteries use sodium metal oxide cathodes and carbon-based anodes, similar to their lithium relatives; however, Natron Energy in Santa Clara, California, is producing both anodes and cathodes out of Prussian Blue pigment used in dyes and paints.

Why Sodium Batteries Are Better Than Lithium?

Sodium-ion batteries, in comparison to lithium-ion batteries, have a lower energy density, perform better at lower temperatures, and last longer, making them a superior long-term investment.

Are Sodium Batteries The Future?

By 2030, Na-ion batteries are predicted to replace some LFP shares in passenger EVs and energy storage, with a total capacity of 20 GWh. The cost savings are incredible: compared to LFP cells, the manufacturing of 1 GWh Na-ion cells will save 41% on material costs.

Are Sodium-Ion Batteries Safe?

In addition, sodium batteries are more stable and safe than lithium-ion batteries. According to Pouchet, batteries have a larger temperature range, are non – combustible, and never experience thermal runaway, which can cause lithium-ion batteries to catch fire.

How Long Do Sodium Batteries Last?

Sodium batteries have the advantage of a relatively high density of up to 240 Wh/kg, a long life span of 10–15 years, and high efficiency (75–90%); however, they must be carried out at high temperatures (350°C/623 K) to obtain the sodium liquid, which makes them not only more complicated and costly to operate.

Do Sodium Ion Batteries Use Nickel?

The major metals used in the three main battery technologies: nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA), nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM), and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, are not present in sodium-ion batteries.

How Long Will A Saltwater Battery Last?

This revolutionary saltwater-based battery from Aquion Energy can power your home for over ten years (3000 days/nights). The best part about it is that it is incredibly eco-friendly. The new Aquion batteries are non-flammable, non-hazardous, and non-explosive, making them better for the environment.
