TikTok Music? ByteDance Trademark Hints New Spotify, Apple Music Rival

TikTok Music? ByteDance Trademark Hints New Spotify, Apple Music Rival. There may soon be TikTok music available. A recent trademark application by TikTok Music’s parent company, ByteDance, makes reference to what may be the next-largest competitor to the major streaming services, Spotify and Apple Music.

For a brand-new TikTok Music service where users may buy, play, share, and download music, TikTok’s parent firm ByteDance has submitted a trademark application.

The USPTO received a fresh trademark application in May. According to Business Insider, the app is for an application which can be used on a pc or a smartphone and “allows users to buy, play, share, download music, songs, albums, lyrics, and quotes; create, recommend, as well as share his or her playlists; take, edit, and upload images as the cover of playlists; as well as comment on music, songs, as well as albums.”

The trademark also includes provisions for the sharing of many other digital content, such as karaoke, applications, live streaming, music, images, and videos.

TikTok social media?

The patent is unmistakable evidence that the popular video platform is attempting to enter the music streaming market in order to compete with services like Apple Music and Spotify, which are presently the top iPhone music streaming applications for phones like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.

The trademark also leaves room for further features like photo sharing that would make it seem more like a social media platform than a streaming service. This could just be the result of the trademark’s broad reach, which is intended to protect all potential future undertakings.

Meanwhile, TikTok’s entry into the music streaming market looks inevitable. The trademark also includes provisions for advertising that may be used to support its music streaming service, potentially with the possibility of a subscription tier, similar to how Spotify works.

Given that this application has not yet been evaluated, the USPTO will have to examine the trademark file before awarding it; nevertheless, for parent business ByteDance, to which it belongs, this should just be a formality.

According to BI, TikTok already operates the popular Resso streaming app in Indonesia, Brazil, and India. According to the report’s analysts, it is doubtful that ByteDance would have applied for such a trademark without intending to launch such a service, therefore the application is a promising indicator that TikTok Music may become a reality soon!

TikTok is coming to Apple Music and Spotify. The parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, has submitted a trademark application for a streaming service named “TikTok Music,” which may include a mobile application that enables users to buy, play, share, and download music.

Already a popular place to find new music, TikTok frequently helps artists break through to the top of lists like the Billboard 100 and Spotify Viral 50.

ByteDance filed for the “TikTok Music” trademark in the US on May 9, the firm now seems to be getting closer to creating a stand-alone music streaming service of its own.

With this move, TikTok, which is already a significant competitor of social media giants like Facebook and Instagram, may now also face off against Spotify and Apple Music.
