Exynos 2200 Vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1: Has Samsung Finally Won?

Exynos 2200 Vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It’s Samsung’s new flagship processor for high-end smartphones, and it’ll make its appearance in the Galaxy S22 series. It has better performance than the Exynos 2100 because of its upgraded CPU and AMD GPU. Samsung promises that its new CPU would give sharper imaging and speedier connectivity. But how does it stack up against the Snapdragon 8 Generation 1?

Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPUs are quite comparable. Both employ ARM v9 CPU cores and are manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s 4nm LPE technology. One Cortex-X2 core, 3 Cortex-A710 cores, as well as 4 Cortex-A510 cores are used in each. Both CPUs include quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, GPS, Wi-Fi 6E, Bt 5.2, & 5G connectivity having download speeds of up to 10Gb/s.

Both flagship CPUs feature camera sensors with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels. Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are capable of capturing 108MP photos with no shutter latency. While the Exynos 2200 can take 64MP as well as 32MP photographs without lag, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 can go a step farther and shoot 64MP+36MP images concurrently.

Samsung stated that their new technology can process four camera feeds at the same time, although the resolution of those streams was not disclosed. Both chips can record videos at 8K 30fps as well as 4K 120fps.

Exynos 2200 Vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1: Has Samsung Finally Won?

Samsung boasts that Exynos 2200 has double the efficiency of Exynos 2100 thanks to its dual-core NPU as well as DSP. On the other side, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 contains a triple-core NPU.

AMD’s RDNA 2-based Xclipse 920 GPU having hardware-accelerated ray-tracing as well as VRS is used in Samsung’s new processor (Variable Rate Shading). Adreno GPU on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 also supports VRS, but not ray-tracing. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s performance measures are in, and the Adreno GPU outperforms Apple’s A15 Bionic to take the top spot in mobile gaming. Although Samsung hasn’t released any performance numbers, the new Xclipse GPU is likely to provide a significant boost in gaming efficiency.

On paper, they appear to be closely matched, and only real-world tests will reveal which chipset provides superior performance and power efficiency, particularly under continuous stress.

Conclusion

Because the Galaxy S22 is expected to come in both Exynos 2200 as well as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 models, side-by-side testing of both can indicate that processor is better and if Samsung has now been able to compare or defeat its Snapdragon rival.
